I’ve been thinking a lot about that recent mass shooting in Boulder CO. There are times when I wish I could physically place myself in a situation so that it could have a different outcome. I can absolutely assure you that, had I been in the store that day, I would have been armed and ready.
And I can’t stop thinking about how differently this story might’ve ended if another citizen, like myself, had been armed, as well.
Biden would have you believe that the problem is with guns. I believe the problem is with the people—in this case, a potentially mentally deranged young man who should never have had a gun in the first place.
Republican Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana spoke up on Tuesday. He doesn’t believe gun control bills are the answer to the kinds of violence we’re saying. He believes we need “idiot control” not “gun control.”
“I don’t believe we have a gun control problem in America,” he told reporters at the Capitol. “I believe we have an idiot control problem. The objective should be to how to control the idiots who abuse guns. The objective should not be—how to get rid of the Second Amendment.”
I’m not sure how to go about solving the “How do we keep bad guys from getting guns?” problem, but I do know that removing them from good guys (like me) isn’t the answer.
I visited with a friend yesterday. He’s worked up, convinced the Biden’s administration is going to use these mass shootings to delve into the personal business of existing gun owners. Specifically, he’s concerned they will begin to research our health records to see if there’s been any indication of depression that might lead to suicide or danger for others.
I can see why he’s worried, (though I do believe we need to figure out some sort of solution so that the mentally deranged aren’t able to purchase guns). Lots of people have told the doctor at one time or another that they’re feeling blue. But that doesn’t make them mass murderers.
The whole thing is a mess. But, for sure, the Biden administration would love nothing better than to disarm conservatives, especially now.
Look, I’m not a conspiracy theorist. Far from it. But this past year has opened my eyes and ears to a lot, and I can promise you this. . .they’re going to have to wrestle my guns out of my hands because I’m not handing them over. No way, no how. It’s just simply not the answer.
Senator Kennedy compared gun violence to drunk driving, which sometimes kills people.
“The answer to that is not to get rid of all sober drivers,” Kennedy said. “But what some of my Democratic colleagues want to do is to basically get rid of the right to keep and bear arms, to stop the killings. That’s like stopping all people from driving because some drive drunk. And I think that’s what underpins this debate. Many of the people promoting greater gun control, if you really drill down and probe what they truly believe, they don’t believe in the Second Amendment.”
And that, my friends, is the real issue, right there. And if we’re not careful, there won’t be a 2nd amendment by the time our children and grandchildren are grown. Then who will protect them from the bad guys? Will the police be completely defunded by then?
It’s a lot to think about. But, for sure, I’m locking my gun cabinet and praying the liberals back off.
